People crave different things. For me, it's the ability to join in thoughtful discussion. For others, it might be money (but as you know, my theme is that money is the wrong reason to blog). Some might crave blog-groupies, but that's not something I aspire to.My thing is that whatever you crave, you have to deal with the blogosphere that exists. And in the blogosphere that exists there are a lot of obstacles to growing a new blog: crowded fields, competition for readers, etc.As I described in a new post today, it can probably be done. But it is very, very hard.

I think blogging to make money is sort of like playing hoops to get to the NBA- it takes the fun out of it and ultimately leads to disappointment.Roger that. This warrants a more thought out blog post of my own, but in passing I wonder what it is that you wanted to accomplish that is being denied by this "club".I think that's really the crux of my knee-jerk response to your mini series. You crave [attention? Money? Hangers-on?]. But to what end?

I think you make a good point about "the club," Kent -- and I share some of your frustration. Tell you what, I'll link to you and comment on your stuff if you drop by my place from time to time and do the same.

Instead of just telling our readers about it, I'm putting my money where my blog is.We've started a blogversation at Tyner Blain, with the post Are people reading your requirements? A blogversation.
