pundy, I completely agree. That was part of the "be a person" stuff I talked about in my 5 Steps to Good Blogging piece.I really like the personal aspect to a blog. It's one of the reasons I actually visit blogs sometimes (as opposed to always reading via an RSS reader)- to get all the sidebar stuff.

Kent, I think the way you define the differnces between a blog and a journal is pretty much accurate but maybe the two genres don't have to be mutually exclusive. Don't you think a blog can be richer and more interesting if it contains more of the author's inner life and personality.

Kent, I think you've hit exactly what I'm going through. Animus started off as "Rodolfo's Babbling's" - which gives you an idea of what it was like before. Somewhere in 2005, I wasn't really writing a journal per se, and it was mainly commentary on what I saw around me and problems that people would bring up to me for consultation. The transition to being something a bit more serious, let's say, is difficult. At this point although, I think it's going to be a mix of several things. I tried designing the categories to reflect, as closely as possible, what type of content would be found in each, so people that wanted to look under the taxonmy of Animus could find quickly what they're looking for.
