Funnily enough, i've been thinking about a device like this for a long time. The CarryPad (as I called the device) will sit nicely between smartphones and PC's. It also means the final death of the pocketpc as nearly all a pocket PC's functions have moved to a smartphone now. I'm hoping that 2nd March will trigger Nokia to improve the 770 and Apple to realease a similar device.http://blog.carrypad.com shows my thoughts about the carrypad.

You're right in that the buzz around Origami is pretty strong, but that's mostly because we don't know what it is. I fear it's going to be typical Microsoft muddled confusion: a product that tries to be too many things and therefore doesn't do any one thing well enough to make it great. The "killer app" of the iPod is that it's an ideal music player. Apple can add all kinds of other stuff like video, calendars, games, etc. because they know they've got most iPod owners hooked with the music stuff. So the Origami has got to provide something compelling (wireless?) that's going to push it above an iPod, and if it runs Windows, better than a laptop.

It'll be a smallish tablet PC. "indicating that Origami is a hand-held, wireless touch-screen computer." --> It's a tablet PC. An the world will let out a collective 'meh' once it is released. And then move on to other, more interesting things.
