Aren't ABC, CBS, Fox, etc all pretty much sponsored by ads? And isn't that pretty much the same for Clear Channel and the rest of FM/AM radio? I see your concern with weebstart ups buying ads to get people to come to their site to click on ads. That is a bad trend in general. But, it seems like Pontiac, Ford and all the other "real companies" are starting to buy into online advertising. That seems like it would greatly diversify and strengthen the income pool for the Google's and Yahoo's of the world. As for the Web 2.0 companies whose only hope for money is Adsense, YPN and the eventual buyout from another bigger company, does their success or failure have anything more significant hanging in the balance than how long the phrase Web 2.0 exists? I guess we'll find out in the next couple years when we see how many real companies are using online ads and what percentage of their ad budget is put online.
