I too bid on Google's dutch auction and had the option to buy 100 shares, but with all the Web companies dropping after 1st day pops, the concerns over patent violations with Yahoo!/Overture, the ill-advised Playboy interview, and the seeming high price ($85-90), I opted out.Big mistake. I looked like an idiot before the first day was over. While I eventually got back in and made a little money off Google's rise, it's clearly a black mark on my record. But Google is no longer the underdog. Now, when I see rumors like them buying Feedburner, I get the same feeling I used to when I saw Microsoft or AOL were making acquisitions... concern over limited routes to market and routes for consumers.
