Thank you for posting this and especially thanks for the insight as to how it feels when you are under hypnosis. I've always wondered what participants are actually feeling when acting under hypnotic suggestion and what their awareness is. I've never been able to find out for myself since whenever I volunteer to be hypnotized and I have 3 times, I don't seem to be affected. It really disturbs me now to watch a show because I become so insanely jealous and I can't function for a day or two since all I think about all day is "Why can't this happen to me" and "what is it like?" I'm thinking about booking a one on one session, although they are expensive. But I need to experience this badly!

I too attended a hypnotism demonstration during University. And while I was picked to come up on stage for the initial group, I was dismissed after the first round (I'm not surprised since I went up there with boundless determination not to be hypnotized ;) ). But after that, I sat back down and watched intently. He hypnotized a girl and suggested that on a given word signal, she would feel as though the person sitting to her immediate left had just pinched her backside. As luck would have it (good or bad, take your pick) she sat back down beside me on my right. About 10 minutes after she sat down, he said the word during normal conversation , and I got a vicious look - and almost a slap. ;)The power of mental suggestion is something that's always fascinated me. I wonder if you can do it with a blog post. Hmmm ;)

I did magic in college and a roommate hypnotized a colleague,jp, telling him when he woke I would be invisible. Post hypnotically I could not be seen by jp and went around his room lifting books and other spooky, to him, actions. He became so upset we left the room. We shared a communal bathroom and JP was in the room in front of the mirror shaving when I came in, he saw my image in the mirror and turned to say "Where the hell have you been/, but when he turned around I was invisible. Magic, post hypnotic what?? 50 years ago and I still remember.
